Bharat Trading Company

We’ve been here at Bharat Trading Company for a good while now. Our spot is up on the first floor of Harekrishna Golden Plaza, right behind Prithvi Market. If you know Station Road, you know how busy it gets around here. Most days start with us opening up the shutters and seeing the morning rush of people heading to the station. It’s a noisy part of town, but we like it. The office isn't anything fancy, just a desk, some chairs, and stacks of ledgers and samples everywhere. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who drop by from the market. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit in the afternoon, so we just sit by the window and watch the traffic below until it comes back on. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything coming in and going out, especially when the delivery trucks get stuck in the narrow lane behind the plaza. We try to keep things organized, but sometimes the paperwork piles up. My cousin helps out with the accounts on weekends. We know most of the other shopkeepers in the building by name. We usually grab tea from the stall downstairs around four o'clock. It’s just how we do things here. Nothing too complicated, just a regular trading business trying to get through the day's tasks without too much trouble. We've seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years.
