Over in Nabdai, you’ll find Rl Bricks Factory. It’s a fairly straightforward setup we have here. We’ve been making bricks in this spot for quite a while. Nabdai is a quiet place for the most part, but our yard stays busy. We’ve got piles of earth and stacks of finished bricks all over the place. The work is very physical. We don't have many machines, so a lot of it is done by hand. We start the fires in the kiln and let them burn for days. You can see the smoke from a good distance away. My cousin and I run the daily operations. We don't have any formal mission statements or anything like that. We just try to make sure the bricks come out hard and red like they’re supposed to. Sometimes a batch doesn't turn out great and we have to sell those as seconds. Local builders usually come by with their own trolleys to pick up what they need. We spend most of the day outdoors. When it gets really hot, we take long breaks in the shade of the neem trees. The office is just a corner of a shed where we keep the receipts. Things are a bit messy in there, but we know who owes what. We’ve lived in Nabdai all our lives, so everyone knows where the factory is.
