Vikash Residential School

Vikash Residential School is located at Vikash Enclave, near the Barhaguda Canal Chowk in Bargarh. Being a residential school, it’s a bit different from the day schools in the city. Since the kids live here, the atmosphere is more like a large, busy household than just a workplace. The area around the canal chowk is usually active with people moving about, but the school itself is set back enough to be manageable. We spend a lot of our time managing not just the classes but also the dormitories and the dining hall. It’s a 24-hour job for a lot of the staff. We make sure the kids have their meals, do their homework, and get enough sleep. Bargarh can get very hot, so we are always checking on the fans and making sure there’s enough water for everyone. The grounds are kept simple. We have space for the kids to spend their evenings, which is important when they are away from home. The teachers and wardens live close by or on-site, so we are always around if someone needs something. It’s not a shiny, corporate institution. It’s a place where we deal with everyday issues like broken taps or lost socks. We focus on the routine because that’s what keeps things running smoothly for the students. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we’ve been doing it this way for a long time now. Most of our students come from the surrounding districts, looking for a steady place to study.
