Being on Station Road means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the trains pulling in and the whistles blowing all day long. Our office is right in the thick of it. It’s an old building, and the stairs are a little narrow, but it works for what we need. We spend most of our time dealing with engineering and procurement details, so there are stacks of catalogs and project files everywhere you look. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy to worry about that. There’s a small tea stall right outside the main entrance where we all congregate around eleven for a break. The traffic on Station Road is always a mess, especially in the evenings, so leaving the office is always a bit of a challenge. We have a few computers that are starting to show their age, and the printer has a habit of jamming when you’re in a hurry. Most of our work is about coordinating between different suppliers and site managers, so the phones never really stop ringing. It’s a fast-paced environment, but not in a glamorous way. It’s more about the grit and the daily grind of making sure everything arrives where it’s supposed to. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just a few calendars and some old maps. It’s a functional space for people who aren't afraid of a little dust and hard work.
