Badakhemundi Street is where we sit. It gets loud in the morning with the rickshaws and people heading to work. I started this place a while back and we spend most of the day sorting out boxes or checking the shelves. Some days the dust from the road gets everywhere and we have to wipe everything down twice. It is just a small spot, nothing fancy or modern. We have the usual stuff people ask for in this neighborhood. My nephew helps me out when he isn't busy at school. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the delivery trucks to arrive. The street name is a bit long, but everyone around Ganjam knows exactly where we are located. It is just life here. Sometimes the power goes out, so we sit by the door to get some light for the paperwork. We keep the books manually most of the time because it is easier. Customers come in and we chat about the weather before they go on their way. It is a simple routine that we are used to now. We have been on Badakhemundi Street for a good stretch of time. You see the same faces every week and it feels like a small community. It is mostly just us keeping things organized behind the counter. The shelves are wooden and look a bit old now, but they hold everything just fine. We do not do any advertising. People just know we are here.
