Vijay Paint & Polish

Down here at 4 Talaghatapura 13th Cross, Temple Street, things stay pretty messy. Vijay Paint & Polish is the kind of place where you’re likely to walk out with a bit of stain on your sleeves if you aren't careful. We’ve got cans stacked up almost to the ceiling in the back. It’s mostly just us mixing things and trying to match what people bring in. The smell of thinner and wood polish is always around, which we’ve gotten used to over the years. Temple Street is a good spot for us, even if parking can be a bit of a headache during the busier hours. We spend a lot of time just moving buckets around or cleaning up spills. It isn't a showroom or anything like that. It’s just a workspace. When the sun hits the front window in the morning, you can see all the dust motes dancing around. We usually start early before the traffic picks up too much. People come in looking for a specific shade for their front door or some varnish for an old table they’re fixing up. We don't really have a sales pitch. We just find the can they need and get it ready. It’s straightforward work. Sometimes we run out of certain things and have to wait for the delivery, but that’s just how it goes. We’ve been at this address for a good stretch now. It is where we do our best work.
