About Uttarkar'S Wood Culture – Machine Tools in Bengaluru
Uttarkar'S Wood Culture is at 1900 Sadashir Peth, over by Natu Baug. If you like the smell of wood, you’d probably like it here. We spend our days cutting, sanding, and putting things together. The shop is usually covered in a fine layer of sawdust, no matter how much we sweep. We’ve got different types of wood stacked against the walls, waiting for the next project. Sadashir Peth is an old part of town with a lot of history, and we feel like we fit right in. People come to us when they want something made that isn't just plastic or cheap metal. We work with our hands mostly. It’s a bit messy and we often have pencil marks on our clothes. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. Most of our work is done on the benches in the back. Sometimes a customer will sit with us for an hour just talking about what they want. We listen and then we try to make it happen. It’s a slow process sometimes, but wood doesn't like to be rushed. We’ve been at this for a long time and we know how the different grains react. It’s just us and the wood, trying to make something useful for someone’s home. The tools we use are old but they still work just fine for us and the people who visit.
