Utility Textiles

We've been here in Anna Nagar for a while now. It’s a busy spot, especially on 9th Street where our place is on the first floor. It’s not a fancy office, just Y-101. Mostly, we deal with rolls of cloth and making sure things get shipped out on time. My desk is usually covered in samples and bits of thread. People drop by sometimes, and it gets a bit crowded with all the fabric stacked up against the walls. We handle a lot of different utility fabrics. It’s mostly about getting the right weight and feel for whatever the customer needs that week. Some days are slow, but usually, the sewing machines are going or we're packing boxes. It gets hot in the afternoons, but that’s just how it is here. I spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers or checking the quality of a new batch that just came in. It's honest work. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the material and keep the inventory straight. Sometimes the power goes out, or a delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lane outside, and we just have to manage. It isn't always perfect, but we get the orders out. The floors are a bit dusty from all the lint, but we try to keep it organized enough to find what we need quickly. Our neighbors on the street know us well by now. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
