Uthkrusht Koushalya Foundation is based in Basaveshwarnagar on the 2nd Floor of Srihari Krupa, which is at 13/192 on 5th Cross in Kirloskar Colony. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say the whole address, but it’s a good spot. We’re in a residential-style building, which makes the whole place feel more like a home than a stiff office. We focus on skills, which is what "Koushalya" is all about. We think having a good trade or a skill is the best way for someone to stand on their own two feet. There isn't anything fancy about how we work. We have some chairs, some old desks, and usually a lot of people coming in and out. Basaveshwarnagar is a great part of Bangalore because it still feels like the old city in some ways. We aren't a big corporate entity. It’s just us, trying to share what we know and help others learn something new. Sometimes the power goes out or the internet acts up, but we just deal with it. We don't have a fancy mission statement on the wall. We just have a to-do list that never seems to get shorter. The people who work here are mostly locals who care about the neighborhood. We spend a lot of time talking to folks who want to better themselves. It’s simple, honest work and we are happy to be doing it right here in Kirloskar Colony every day of the week.
