United Impex

United Impex is located at 64-B, over in the Industrial Area-A Extension. It’s a grey building that doesn't look like much from the outside. We have a lot of boxes stacked up against the walls because we are always dealing with imports and exports. The paperwork is the hardest part. I spend hours sitting at a metal desk going through forms and checking shipping dates. It’s not very exciting work, but it’s what keeps the lights on. The extension area is a bit quieter than the main industrial zone, which I actually prefer. We don't have a showroom or a fancy lobby. If you come by, you’ll probably find me in the middle of a pile of packing tape and cardboard. We don't use big words or try to impress anyone. We just handle the goods and make sure they get where they need to go. The trucks come and go at all hours, so someone is usually here late. We have a small kettle for making coffee and that’s about the only luxury we have in the office. It gets cold in the winter months because the warehouse doors stay open for loading. You just wear a thick sweater and keep moving. We’ve been here for years and we know the rhythms of the port and the local customs office. It’s a living.
