Toscano Restaurant

Toscano Restaurant has been part of the Malleshwaram neighborhood for some time now, specifically tucked away at Dinb Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Dumpting Road 16. The kitchen is always the busiest part of the building, with pots clanking and the sound of water running in the back sink. We spend a lot of our day just getting things ready before the first person walks through the door. The tables are simple wood and sometimes they wobble a bit if you don't set them right. Our staff mostly lives nearby, so we walk or bike to work and see the same people on the street every day. It’s not a very quiet place when the lunch rush starts, and you can hear the chatter from the street mixing with the music we play inside. We keep the menus on the counter near the entrance where they’re easy to grab. Sometimes we run out of certain ingredients if the delivery truck is late, and we just have to tell people we don’t have it that day. That’s just how it goes here at number 16. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the food to worry about that. Most evenings end with us mopping the floors and stacking the chairs so we can do it all over again the next day. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve all gotten used to over the years.
