Texel Magnetics

We are over at number 87 in Shankar Nagar, Kalamboli. Texel Magnetics is basically a workshop and a storage space combined into one. The area is pretty busy with trade, so there is always something going on outside. Inside our doors, it’s mostly about sorting through materials and making sure the magnets are stored right so they don't stick to things they shouldn't. You have to be careful where you put your tools down here. We’ve had a few instances where a wrench gets stuck to a shelf and it takes two of us to pull it off. It’s a bit of a laugh when it happens. The space isn’t very big, so we have to be smart about how we stack the crates. It’s mostly just a few of us. We don't wear uniforms or anything like that. Just regular clothes that usually end up with some metal dust on them by the end of the day. There’s a small desk near the front where we keep the ledger and handle the phone calls. Sometimes the signal isn’t great inside because of all the metal, so we have to step out onto the sidewalk to talk. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops, so we all know each other. It’s a practical way to spend the day, just working through the orders and making sure everything is where it needs to be before we lock up for the night.
