St. Martha'S Hospital

Situated on Nrupathunga road, our hospital is a landmark that most locals are familiar with. It’s a large, older building that has a very solid feel to it. The floors are made of that old-style stone that stays cool even when the sun is beating down on the roof. We have a lot of big trees on the grounds, which helps keep the noise from the traffic down a little bit. Every morning, the staff arrives and starts the usual routine of checking the wards and making sure everything is where it should be. We have a lot of stairs, so we all get plenty of exercise just moving from one floor to the next. The waiting rooms are usually quite full, and there is a lot of murmuring as people wait for their names to be called. We don’t have a lot of high-tech gadgets in the lobby, just some old chairs and a few notice boards with various papers pinned to them. It’s a very practical environment. We focus on the things that matter, like making sure there are enough clean sheets and that the pharmacy is stocked. Sometimes the elevators are a bit slow, so we just take the stairs instead. It’s a busy, lived-in place where everyone is just trying to get through their shift and help out where they can. We’ve been a part of the Nrupathunga road community for ages, and we’re just here to keep things going at St. Martha'S Hospital.
