Sree Lakshmi Hospital

Sree Lakshmi Hospital is situated in Kaggadasapura, very close to the railway gate. If you live around here, you know the sound of the trains passing by quite well throughout the day and night. It’s a familiar backdrop to our workday. The hospital isn’t huge, but it serves the local neighborhood folks. We have various wards and a small emergency area for when things get urgent suddenly. The hallways are a bit narrow, and you’ll often see nurses rushing from one room to another with trays or charts in their hands. It’s a lived-in kind of place, not one of those sterile, corporate buildings that feel like a hotel. We deal with everything from common colds to things that require a stay for a few nights in a bed. The staff is mostly local, so there’s a lot of chatting in the local language at the front desk. It gets very busy during the morning hours when people come in for their tests or to see the doctors before they head off to work. We don't have any grand mission statements painted on the walls; we just focus on the patients who are in the beds or sitting in the waiting chairs. Sometimes the gate at the railway crossing stays down for a long time and some of our staff or patients are a few minutes late, but we all just work around it. It’s just how things go here in Kaggadasapura. We are just part of the local scenery.
