Shell Pahal Social Welfare Association is situated out in the Industrial Park at Mahadeva-Kodigehalli 7. This is part of the Bangalore Hardware Park in Devanahalli, so it feels quite different from the middle of the city. The pincode is 562149, way up in Bangalore North. Since it is an industrial park, the roads are wide and there is a lot of space between the buildings, but it can feel a bit empty if you are used to the crowded streets of the city center. The commute out here can be long depending on where you are coming from, especially with all the construction happening toward the airport. Once you get inside the hardware park, it is very organized. Our building is a simple structure that fits right in with the other industrial sites around us. We spend most of our time inside where it is quiet. Out here, you see a lot of trucks and workers moving supplies, which gives the whole area a very busy, productive feel. It’s not the kind of place where you go for a casual stroll, but it works well for what we do. The air feels a bit more open than in the heart of Bangalore. We have our desks set up, a small area for lunch, and plenty of space for the files that keep piling up.
