Located at No-80-B in the Yeshwantpur Industrial Suburbs, our building is right in the thick of things. Bangalore traffic is as bad as everyone says, so getting here in the morning is usually the hardest part of the day. At Schunk Intec India, the atmosphere is pretty focused. We have a lot of metal components and heavy-duty parts sitting around on pallets. The floor is painted grey, but it’s got plenty of scuffs from moving stuff around over the years. We have a few small offices partitioned off with glass, but most of us spend our time out where the action is. It’s a bit noisy with the ventilation system and the sound of the city right outside the gates. We have a small fridge for our lunches and a water cooler that gets a lot of use during the summer months. There’s no big sign or flashing lights to show we are here, just the address number on the pillar. Sometimes we have to move the delivery trucks around just so someone can park their scooter. It’s not a polished corporate showroom. It’s a working space where things get greasy and the clocks never seem to be perfectly synced. We just get on with it and try to stay organized among all the iron and steel.
