Satish Binding Works

You can find Satish Binding Works down in Cottonpet, on M M Lane. It’s a narrow street, so it’s better if you walk instead of trying to drive a big car down here. Our shop is small and packed with stacks of paper and old binding machines. The smell of glue is pretty strong the moment you walk in. We’ve been binding books and ledgers for a long time now. My father started this, and I just took over after I finished school. We don't use many of those new digital machines; we still do a lot of things by hand because that’s how we learned. The light from the small window isn't great, so we have a few bright bulbs hanging from the ceiling. It gets very busy during the school season when everyone wants their books covered and bound. Sometimes the piles of paper get so high you can hardly see the person sitting across from you. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to M M Lane for years. It’s a bit dusty, and the floor is uneven, but it’s our home. We don’t have a fancy sign, just the name painted above the door. If we’re busy, we might not hear you come in over the sound of the paper cutter. We just try to finish the work on time and keep the customers happy without much fuss.
