Sathya Furniture Worl

Our place is at New No. 139 on Royapettah High Road. We are right in the heart of Mylapore, not too far from Sanskrit College. This area is always buzzing with people and traffic. You can hear the buses and horns all day long from inside the shop. We work with wood to make furniture that people actually use in their homes. It is a messy job with a lot of sawing and sanding. My clothes are always covered in light brown dust. We have a few pieces finished and sitting out for people to look at, but mostly we are busy making new ones in the back. The smell of varnish can be quite strong sometimes, so we keep the doors open to let the air move. People stop in while they are walking down Royapettah High Road just to see what we are making. We don't have a big sales team. It is just us and our tools. Sometimes a customer wants something specific and we have to draw it out on a piece of scrap wood to make sure we understand. It is a very hands-on way to live. Being near the college means we see a lot of students walking by too. We have been in this spot for a while and have seen the neighborhood change a lot. But people always need a good chair or a sturdy table, so we stay busy enough.
