Sainath Hospital

Peenya is a tough place to work because of all the dust and the trucks. Sainath Hospital is right in the middle of all that Bangalore industrial noise. I get here early before the main shift at the factories starts. You can see the workers walking down the road in their uniforms. The hospital building itself is pretty simple. We have a lobby that gets dusty no matter how many times we sweep it. I spend a lot of time on my feet, moving between the different rooms or talking to the families who come in. It’s a practical place. We don't have fancy decorations on the walls, just a few notices and maybe a calendar. The water cooler in the corner makes a loud gulping sound every time someone uses it. I like the people I work with, we usually share our lunch in the small back room. The tea guy comes around at four, and that’s the best part of the afternoon. We see all kinds of stuff here, from small accidents to people just feeling sick. Bangalore traffic is a mess, so some patients arrive late and stressed out. I just try to handle the files and make sure everyone knows where to go. It’s a lot of routine work, day in and day out. When my shift ends, the streetlights are usually just coming on and the Peenya air is still thick.
