S M S Printers is based at 139 Peenya Phase III, inside the Eswari Complex in Ganapathi Nagar. We’ve been printing things here for a long time now. The smell of ink is the first thing you notice when you walk into our unit. It’s a smell we’ve gotten used to, but visitors always mention it. We have a couple of large printing machines that take up most of the floor space. They’re quite old, but we maintain them ourselves and they still work better than some of the newer ones we've seen. When they’re running, you have to raise your voice just to hear each other. We do all sorts of jobs, from simple black and white flyers to bigger color projects. The layout of the shop is a bit cramped because we also store a lot of paper stock. We keep the paper covered so it doesn't get dusty. Sometimes the cutters are blunt and we have to spend time sharpening them before we can finish a job. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing department. Most of our work comes from the other businesses around Peenya and Ganapathi Nagar. People just drop off their files or sometimes even physical copies, and we get to work. It’s a straightforward business. We work until the job is done, sometimes staying late into the evening if a machine decides to act up. It’s just us doing what we know.
