S K Power Tools

I run S K Power Tools out of the Rajanna Building over in Yalachenahalli. It’s right on Kanakapura road, number 3. It's a small shop but we keep it packed with drills, saws, and all sorts of things people need for their jobs. The shelves go right up to the ceiling. Sometimes I need a ladder just to find a specific spare part someone asked for. It gets loud here because we test the tools to make sure they're running right before people take them home. There is always grease on the counters. I don’t mind it, it’s just part of working with machinery. The building is an older one, everyone around here knows it. Traffic on Kanakapura is getting worse every year, so it takes a bit of time for people to reach us. I spend a lot of time cleaning the dust off the boxes. People come in with broken stuff and ask if it can be fixed. If I can do it, I do it right there on the bench. It’s not a big corporate store. It’s just me and the tools. I keep a radio playing in the corner, usually some old songs. Most customers are guys who work on sites nearby. They drop in for a chat or to pick up some blades. It's a steady way to spend the day. I have an old chair behind the counter where I sit when there's a gap in customers. It's a simple, honest way to make a living.
