Punith Driving School

Punith Driving School is based out of the Banashankari 2nd Stage area, specifically near the Marketyard and the Chandrika Society. It’s a busy spot in Bangalore, and the roads around the marketyard are always full of trucks and carts. We start our sessions early in the morning, sometimes before the sun is even fully up, because that’s the only time the roads are quiet enough for a beginner to breathe. The office is at 715/1 and it is a simple place where we do the registration and talk about the rules of the road. We use a lot of hand signals and patience because driving in this city isn't easy for anyone. The car smells a bit like old upholstery and maybe a little bit of petrol, but it gets the job done. We spend a lot of time practicing reverse parking in the smaller lanes of the society where there isn't too much traffic. Sometimes the students get frustrated with the gear shifts, but we just tell them to take a second and try again. It’s a lot of repeating the same instructions all day long while watching out for potholes. By the time the evening rush starts, we are usually done for the day and just finishing up the logs. It’s a straightforward life, just teaching one person at a time how to navigate the Bangalore mess. You get a lot of different personalities in the driver's seat.
