National Colour Lab

We are located on the ground floor of Empire Tower, at No.53 in Kumara Park West. It’s a solid spot and easy to get to once you’re in the area. We’ve been around for quite some time, dealing with photos and colors every single day. The shop has that specific smell of chemicals and paper that you only find in a lab. We have rows of machines that process the prints, and they hum along all day. It’s not a fancy place with modern furniture; it’s a working lab where we focus on getting the shades right. People bring in their memories, sometimes on old films or on digital cards, and we do our best to put them on paper. Kumara Park West is a nice neighborhood, and we’ve seen generations of families come through our doors for their portraits or holiday snaps. We don’t use a lot of marketing fluff because the work usually speaks for itself. If a print doesn’t look right, we just do it again until it does. It’s a simple philosophy. We stay busy with the local crowd and the occasional professional who needs something specific. It’s just us, the machines, and a lot of photographs. We’re here from morning till night, just keeping the tradition of printing alive in our own small way. It’s a quiet life in Kumara Park, but there is always something to develop or scan.
