Marine Engineering Corporation

Our workshop is located at 452, 53 in the Epip Industrial Area. It’s a big place, and sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, but we’re used to it by now. Marine Engineering Corporation is basically just a group of us working on various engine parts and mechanical things for ships and heavy equipment. The industrial area can be a bit noisy with all the trucks moving in and out all day. We spend most of our time at the benches or looking at technical drawings that have seen better days. It gets pretty hot under the tin roof during the summer months, so we keep the fans going as much as we can. We've been here for a while, seeing other shops open and close around us. Most of the work involves heavy metal, so our hands are usually dirty. There isn’t much for a lobby or anything like that; you just walk right into where the work is happening. We deal with suppliers who drop off raw materials and then we spend the week cutting or shaping them into whatever is needed. It’s practical work. Sometimes we have to stay late if a part is needed urgently, but that’s just the nature of marine work. Ships don't wait for anyone. We just focus on what’s in front of us and try to keep things moving. It’s a straightforward life here in Epip.
