Manipal Hospital

Our specific area is on the 2nd floor, within the General OT Complex of Manipal Hospital. It is a part of the building that feels a bit different from the main lobby downstairs. Up here, things are much more controlled and quiet. The doors are heavy and often stay closed to keep the environment right. We spend most of our time in these hallways, moving equipment or checking on the schedules for the day. There is a small break area where we sit for ten minutes to have a drink of water before the next task begins. The lighting is very bright and white, which helps everyone stay alert during the long hours. You don't see much of the outside world from here, as the windows are few and far between in this section. It is all about the work happening right in front of us. We have lockers for our belongings and a place to change into our work clothes. The floor is polished and reflects the overhead lights. It is a very practical, serious space where the focus is entirely on what needs to be done. Even though it is part of a large hospital, this 2nd-floor complex feels like its own small world. We know the rhythm of the machines and the sound of the carts rolling down the hall. It is just where we work every day.
