This branch is located at number 2, Subhan Saheb Lane, right off Silver Jubilee Park Road. Everyone just calls it SJP Road. It’s one of the busiest spots in the city for hardware and tools. Our lane is quite cramped, so don’t try to bring a big car down here. We have everything packed into a small space. It’s a lot of climbing up and down to get items for customers. The noise from SJP Road is constant—horns, people shouting, and carts being pushed. We keep the shutters halfway down if the sun is too bright. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the small bits and pieces we sell. I spend most of my time counting out screws or showing someone the difference between two wrenches. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just walk in. The floor is old tiles that are cracked in a few places. We have a tiny back room where we keep some extra stock and a kettle for tea. Sometimes the rain floods the lane a little, so we have to put boards up at the door. It’s just part of being in this old part of town. We’ve known the other shopkeepers on the lane for years. We all help each other out when someone needs a hand. It's a tough but good way to make a living. I usually eat a quick lunch between customers while sitting on a crate.
