M V J Medical College is located on Whitefield Road in the Channasandra and Kadugodi area. We are very close to ITPB, which means the traffic around here is usually quite a mess. It’s strange because the college is this place of learning and medicine, while right outside there are all these high-tech glass buildings. The campus is a mix of the college and the hospital. You’ll see students in their white coats rushing between buildings all day long. The air inside has that typical hospital smell—a mix of disinfectant and medicine. The lecture halls are quite big with tiered seating, and the lighting is a bit dim sometimes. We have a canteen that is almost always full of people looking for a quick meal or a cup of coffee. The equipment in the labs is used constantly, so it’s always being cleaned or serviced. Whitefield has grown so much that the college feels like an island in the middle of all the new development. We have a lot of staff who have lived in Bangalore for decades and have seen the whole area change from empty land to what it is now. It’s a high-energy environment, but it can also be very exhausting with the long hours and the constant flow of patients. It’s not a polished corporate office; it’s a working medical institution with all its clutter and noise.
