Lee Shing

Lee Shing is located up on the first floor in Shanthi Nagar, right on Langford Road. Being next to Krishna Sagar Restaurant means there is always a crowd nearby, especially during the lunch hour. You can hear the plates clinking from over there while I’m busy here. The stairs leading up to the shop are a bit steep, but once you’re inside, it’s a fairly quiet space compared to the main road. I usually open up around mid-morning. The light comes in through the front windows quite nicely in the afternoon. I keep a few old magazines on the table for whoever is waiting. It’s not a big place, just enough room to move around the chairs without bumping into things. I’ve lived in Bangalore long enough to know how the traffic gets on this road, so I try to stay organized. The floor is tiled and easy to sweep up after a haircut. There is a small sink in the back that leaks a tiny bit if you don't turn the tap just right. We have some pictures on the wall, mostly just stuff to fill the space. It is a simple setup for simple work. Most people who come in are from the offices nearby or people living in the apartments around Shanthi Nagar. It’s a steady routine of cutting hair, chatting a bit about the weather, and keeping the place tidy.
