Khan Electrical Service

If you go to Jayanagar and look right opposite the Tank Garden Masjid, you’ll see our shop. It’s a small spot, but we pack a lot into it. We’ve been doing electrical service work here for years. The walls are lined with switches, sockets, and various light fixtures. There’s always a faint humming sound in the air from the different devices we’re testing out. We handle a lot of home repairs, so we’re often out on the road carrying our toolbags from one house to another. When we are in the shop, it’s usually to restock or talk to the locals who drop by. Since we are right across from the Masjid, it gets very busy during prayer times, and we often see familiar faces coming in to ask a quick question about a flickering light or a broken fan. We don’t have a secretary or a formal waiting room. You just walk in and talk to whoever is behind the counter. Our hands are usually a bit dirty from grease or carbon, but that’s just the nature of the job. Khan Electrical Service is a simple operation. We don't spend money on big signs or fancy uniforms. We just use what we have and do the work that needs doing. It’s a steady rhythm of fixing things and moving on to the next task. The ceiling is covered in hooks where we hang the fans that are waiting to be picked up. It keeps them out of the way, though you have to watch your head if you're tall. We like the neighborhood feel of Jayanagar, especially in the evenings when things cool down slightly.
