Indian Institute Of Science

This is basically a small setup within the Indian Institute of Science, specifically at the V. B. Sunitha Iisc Ladies Hostel in M-Block. We are located in Room No. M-38 on the ground floor. It is definitely not your typical office environment because it is right in the middle of where people live. You can hear the sounds of students talking in the hallways and the distant noise from the hostel kitchen during mealtimes. The room itself is quite small and we have had to be very smart about how we fit the desks and the storage cabinets inside. It gets a bit crowded when more than two people are in here at once. Being on the ground floor means we see everyone passing by on their way to classes. The walls are a bit thin, so we try to keep our voices down. There is a small window that looks out onto the garden area, which is nice when the flowers are in bloom. We don't have a fancy entrance or a big lobby. It’s just a standard hostel room converted for our use here in Bangalore-12. It feels very lived-in and practical. We mostly deal with internal stuff for the institute, and the atmosphere is very casual. Sometimes we forget we are actually at work because the setting is so residential. It’s a bit unusual, but it works for what we need to do on a daily basis.
