Silver Jubilee Park Road is one of the most crowded places you can find, and our shop is right at No.14. It is a legendary street for anyone looking for hardware, so the pavement outside is always blocked with crates and people looking for specific parts. Inside our place, it is floor-to-ceiling shelves packed with all kinds of tools. It’s a bit dark in the back of the shop, and there is always that specific smell of metal and grease that you find in old tool stores. We spend a lot of time climbing ladders to find exactly what a customer is asking for. It isn't a modern showroom by any means. There is no air conditioning, just the ceiling fans spinning away while we talk to the mechanics and builders who come through the door. Some days are so busy we barely have time to sit down, while other afternoons are slower and we just spend the time reorganizing the stock. We’ve seen the road change a lot over the years, with new shops opening and old ones closing, but we’ve stayed here at number 14. The staff here has been around for a long time, so they know the inventory by heart. We don’t use any complicated systems to track things; we just know where everything is. It is hard work, but it’s what we know how to do, and we just keep at it every morning.
