Golchha General Stores

Golchha General Stores is situated in the Jigani Industrial Area, specifically over in Phase I of Krisnarajapuram. Since we’re in an industrial zone, most of our neighbors are big factories and warehouses. It’s a different kind of vibe than a residential neighborhood. There’s always the sound of machinery or trucks idling nearby. We opened up here because it seemed like a good spot to provide what people need during their workdays. The store itself is pretty straightforward. We have shelves stocked with the basics and we try to keep things where people can find them easily. Sometimes the dust from the industrial area gets inside, so I spend a lot of time wiping down the counters. It’s a bit of an endless task but it keeps the place looking decent. Krisnarajapuram Phase I is a large area, so we get people coming from all different parts of the complex. I’ve gotten to know the truck drivers and the floor workers who stop in for a quick item before their shift starts. We don’t have any big marketing plans or anything like that. We just open the doors and wait for whoever needs something. It’s a practical business for a practical part of town. I usually sit on a stool by the door when it’s quiet and watch the lorries go by. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s our life here in Jigani.
