Working in Peenya is unlike any other part of the city. We are Goel Forgings Pvt Ltd, and you can find us at 21/A on the 3rd Main Road in Phase I. The whole area is full of factories and workshops, so the sound of metal hitting metal is basically the background music for our entire day. Our building is a big shed-like structure that holds all our heavy equipment. It gets very hot inside, especially when the furnaces are running, so we drink a lot of water and take breaks in the shade when we can. The 3rd Main Road is always crowded with trucks moving materials in and out. I’ve been coming to this same spot for years, and I’ve seen the buildings around us change, but our routine stays pretty much the same. We take raw pieces and shape them into what’s needed. My hands are usually covered in some kind of grease or grit by the end of the shift. It’s a tough environment, and we don’t have many frills here. There’s a small desk in the corner where I handle the orders, but most of my time is spent on the floor making sure things are moving along.
