G.H.P.School.Doddamathali

We sit right on Charles Campbell Road in Cox Town. It is number 89. This building has been here for many years, and you can tell by looking at some of the walls. We have been running G.H.P.School.Doddamathali with a small group of people who just want to see the local kids learn something. The street outside is usually full of bikes and people walking to the shops nearby. Inside, it is a bit quieter, but not by much when the kids are all in the rooms. We do not have a big office or anything special. Most of the time, we are just sitting at the old wooden tables or standing in the classrooms. The lighting is not always great, so we keep the doors open as much as we can. We deal with the usual stuff like broken taps or missing notebooks. It is a local school for families living right here. We see the same faces every morning at the gate. Sometimes parents stop by just to talk about their kids or ask about the next holiday coming up. It is not a fancy place with a lot of money, but we make it work with what we have. Most afternoons are spent grading papers or cleaning up the bits of paper left on the floor. We just try to keep things moving along day by day. It is hard work, and we get tired, but the place feels like home after you have been here for a few years.
