We are over at number 45 in Mahalaxmi Puram. It’s an industrial area, so there are a lot of small workshops like ours around here. Geetha Industries is basically a small production unit. We make various bits and pieces depending on what orders come in. I’ve been running the place for several years now. It started out with just one machine and now we have three. It’s noisy when everything is running at the same time. The roof is made of tin, so it gets quite hot in the summer months. We keep the big doors open to get a bit of a breeze. My workers have been with me for a long time, so we all know how the machines act when they get old. We aren't a giant factory. It’s just a place where we do honest work and try to meet the deadlines people give us. Sometimes the raw materials are late and we have to work extra hours to catch up. That’s just part of the job. People know us in the neighborhood as a reliable spot for small-scale manufacturing. We don't have a front office or a receptionist. If someone wants to talk to us, they just walk into the shop and find me near the back. It’s dusty and loud, but we like it that way. Most days we are just focused on the metal and the cutting. We keep some cold water in the corner for anyone who gets thirsty.
