Gateway Academy

Gateway Academy is located at No.3017 on K R Road in Banashankari 2nd Stage. We are quite close to the Uma Maheshwari Temple, which is a very well-known spot in this part of Bangalore 560070. The temple bells can sometimes be heard during our evening sessions, which is actually quite nice. Our building is a standard three-story structure and we take up a portion of it. Inside, it’s just plain rooms with tables and chairs for the students. We’ve been here for a good while, so the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we need. It’s a very local operation. We don’t have a corporate team or a big administrative staff. Usually, the teachers handle everything from opening the gate to cleaning the boards. The students are mostly from the nearby streets in Banashankari. They walk over or ride their cycles after school. K R Road is usually busy, so there’s a lot of traffic noise, but the students are used to it by now. We focus on the textbooks and the exams that are coming up. There’s no fancy technology here, just pens, paper, and books. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it has worked for the families in this area for a long time. We just open the doors and get to work every day. Sometimes the rains make the roof leak a tiny bit, but we just move the desks.
