Exide Rk Battery House

We are over at Kundalahalli 2, running the Exide Rk Battery House. It’s a place that stays pretty dark because of all the heavy racks we have along the walls. Those racks are full of car batteries and big inverter batteries that are really heavy to move. There’s always that faint smell of chemicals and old metal in the air, which you get used to after a while. We have a small workbench in the front where we test batteries to see if they can still hold a charge. Sometimes it’s just a loose connection, but other times the battery is just dead. We have a lot of tools scattered around and a big charger that hums all day long. It gets a bit cramped when a few customers come in at once because the batteries take up so much floor space. We don't have any posters or decorations, just some old calendars and a clock that’s five minutes fast. Most of our work is just swapping out old batteries for new ones and making sure the terminals are clean so they don't corrode. It’s greasy work and our fingernails are usually black by the end of the shift. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just drop by when their car won't start or when the power goes out at home. It’s a basic shop for a basic need, and we’re here most days.
