Exide Industries Ltd

Our spot is out at Kudle Gate in Ashwath Nagar, right on the Marathalli Main Road at number 8. Since we are on such a busy road, there is always a layer of dust on the windows that we have to wipe off every morning. Exide Industries Ltd handles a lot of heavy lifting here. We have rows of lead-acid batteries stacked up, and the floor is reinforced concrete because of all that weight. It’s not a place where you’d come to hang out, it’s where you come when your inverter dies or your truck needs a fresh start. The light inside is a bit bright and fluorescent, reflecting off the black plastic of the battery cases. We spend a lot of our time checking water levels and hooking up chargers to make sure everything is ready to go. You can hear the constant drone of buses and cars zooming past outside on the main road, which makes it hard to talk sometimes. We mostly just focus on the technical stuff, making sure the connections are tight and the voltage is right where it needs to be. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving things around on trolleys and keeping track of the inventory coming in from the trucks. The back room has a sink where we’re always washing the grime off our hands before taking a break. It is a very industrial part of the neighborhood, and we fit right in with all the noise.
