We’re based out in Peenya, at number 41579, which is just a regular spot in a very busy part of town. Es Em Tools isn’t a place with a big sign or a fancy entrance. We’re mostly focused on the daily grind of making and fixing tools. The workshop is where we spend all our time. It’s got that specific smell of metal and machine oil that never really goes away. We’ve got a few old machines that we’ve repaired ourselves more times than I can count, but they still do the job better than some of the newer stuff. It’s a small team here, just a couple of us who have been doing this for a long time. We don't have a lot of structure, we just look at what needs to be done each morning and start working. Sometimes the orders pile up and we have to stay late, and other times it’s a bit slower and we catch up on cleaning the benches. We don’t go in for anything corporate. It’s just a shop where we work with our hands. The neighborhood is loud and there’s always a truck backing up somewhere nearby, but that’s just part of being in Peenya. We like it this way. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We don’t need much else besides our tools and a steady stream of projects to keep us going. Some days are harder than others, but we stay at it.
