If you come down Hosur Main Road toward Electronic City, you will find us at No. 64 in Pragati Nagar. It is a bit of a contrast being a flower business so close to all those big IT buildings. We start our days very early, usually way before the sun comes up, because that is when the fresh flowers arrive from the farms. The air in our shop is always kept cool to keep the blooms from wilting. It is a lot of work trimming stems and sorting through different varieties. We do not have a high-tech setup like our neighbors in the tech parks. Our tools are mostly scissors, plastic buckets, and cold storage units. My family has been doing this for a long time, and we moved to this spot to be closer to the main transport routes for our exports. The traffic on Hosur Road can be a nightmare, but we have learned how to time our deliveries to avoid the worst of it. It is a busy life, and your hands usually end up stained or scratched by the end of the shift. We are not looking to be the biggest export house in the world. We just want to make sure the flowers leaving our doors are in good shape. People in Pragati Nagar often see our vans heading out early in the morning. It is a simple way to make a living.
