You can find us right on the Veterinary College campus in Hebbal. It’s a busy spot with a lot of animals coming in and out every single day. Being an animal shelter and a hospital means there is never a quiet moment around here. You’ll hear barking from the kennel area and maybe some cats meowing in the back. The smell is a mix of cleaning supplies and animals, which is just part of the job. We have a lot of outdoor space because we need it for the animals that stay with us longer. Some are rescues waiting for homes, and others are just here because they’re sick or hurt. The staff wears scrubs that usually have a bit of fur on them by the end of the day. We spend a lot of time feeding the residents and cleaning out the cages. It’s hard work and it can get pretty messy, especially when it rains and the ground gets muddy. People from all over Bangalore bring animals to us. We don’t have a fancy lobby; it’s mostly just practical spaces for the vets to work. We have old wooden benches for people to sit on while they wait. There’s always a lot of paperwork to track all the different animals. We just do our best to take care of every creature that ends up at our gate in Hebbal.
