Our office is tucked away on the ground floor at Gaje Besetty Lane in Sivakasi. It’s a bit of a maze getting here if you don’t know the 2nd Cross well. We’ve been operating out of this spot for years, dealing with all the stuff that comes with being an import and export firm. Sivakasi is always busy, especially with the heat and all the trucks moving around on Sattur Road. We spend a lot of time on the phone and checking paperwork for shipments. There are boxes everywhere most of the time because things are always coming in or going out. It’s not a fancy corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just us, some desks, and a lot of ledgers. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there waiting for the generator to kick in so we can get back to the emails. We’ve got a small team and we all pretty much know how everything works, from the packing to the billing. It’s hard work keeping track of everything across the different locations we deal with. We just try to get the orders right and make sure things move on time. Being down here in the lane means we’re close to the other businesses, so there’s always someone stopping by for a chat or a cup of tea while we talk about the market. We just keep our heads down and stay busy with the work at hand.
