We are out at No. 35-A in the Jigani Industrial Area, which is quite a trek if you’re coming from the main part of the city. Cauvery Electrodes (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been here for years. It’s a big industrial zone, so there are trucks and forklifts everywhere. Our building is pretty standard for this area. Inside, it’s all about the production of electrodes. The air often smells like metal and chemicals from the coating process. It’s a busy floor with people constantly moving around. We don’t spend much time in fancy offices. Most of us are down where the machines are. It gets pretty hot during the day, especially when we are running at full capacity. We have a small break room where we eat our lunch and talk about non-work stuff. It’s a tight-knit group. Jigani is a bit of a trek, and the roads can be pretty rough, especially after the rain. But being out here means we have the space we need for the factory. We have some large mixers for the coating material and ovens that stay hot all day. It’s a lot of monitoring and making sure the settings are correct. We wear our boots and overalls every day. Sometimes the supply of raw materials is late, and we have to scramble to adjust the schedule. That’s just the nature of manufacturing. We just focus on making things the way we always have.
