Down on Takshshila Road in Peenya, you’ll find C G Rashmi Industries at number 51/B. It’s an industrial area, so there is always a lot of dust and the sound of machines running nearby. We spend our days on the floor working on whatever orders have come in for the week. It’s mostly metal work and manufacturing stuff that people need for their own projects. The shed gets pretty hot in the afternoons, especially when all the equipment is running at once. We’ve got a small team here, and most of us have been doing this for years. We aren't much for fancy offices; usually, the desk is covered in blueprints or scraps of metal. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time navigating the road, but we manage to get things loaded up eventually. It’s hard work and the floor is never really clean no matter how much we sweep it. We just focus on getting the pieces right so they fit where they’re supposed to go. People come to us because they know we’re right here in the neighborhood and we don't charge for things they don't need. It’s a straightforward operation. We start early in the morning when it’s still cool and keep going until the light starts to fade. That’s just how things go around here at our shop. We’ve been here a long time and the work just keeps coming, which is better than the alternative. If you walk by, you'll hear the hammers.
