Right at 1650/1 in the Shree Lakshmi Complex on Kammanahalli Main Road is where you'll find us. Working in R S Palya can be pretty hectic, but it definitely keeps us on our toes. At Btf Chemicals & Paints, the shop is basically filled from floor to ceiling with cans and drums. As soon as you get near the entrance, you can smell the paint quite clearly. Although it’s a strong scent, we’ve stopped noticing it after all these years. Because the complex itself is quite old, the stairs can be a bit of a challenge if you’re carrying heavy bags. Instead of a big showroom with lights and displays, we have a practical warehouse space. People come here to get exactly what they need for their houses or projects. By the end of a shift, my clothes usually have a few spots of color on them. A lot of our time is spent mixing shades and checking the inventory lists. Since the road is so narrow and crowded, delivery trucks sometimes have a hard time parking. When that happens, we have to run back and forth to unload everything quickly. To help with the heat in the afternoons, we keep a noisy fan running in the corner. You won't find any corporate talk or big meetings here. We just work through the orders and help whoever walks in. It’s a simple way to make a living in a neighborhood we like.
