Working at Bill Forge Pvt Ltd out in the Bommasandra Industrial Estate feels different than being in the city. We are on Station Road at 9-C. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always a hum of machinery and the smell of metal in the air. The building is big and functional. It’s not meant to be pretty; it’s meant for work. I see the trucks pulling in and out all day long, carrying heavy loads. The gates are heavy and they creak when they open in the morning. Inside, it’s a lot of hard floors and bright lights. People wear heavy boots and move with a sense of purpose. It’s loud, so you have to raise your voice to be heard sometimes. We have a small area where we keep our lunch boxes, and that’s where most of the talking happens during breaks. The road outside is often dusty because of all the construction and the big vehicles passing through. Sometimes the heat in the afternoon is quite a lot, but we just keep going. It’s a place where things are actually made, and you can feel that energy. I’ve been coming here for a while now, and the routine of the shift is something I find comforting. You know what needs to be done, you do the work, and you see the results at the end of the day. It’s straightforward and keeps us focused on the tasks at hand.
