Bhavani Appliances

If you've ever been to Chickpet 121, you know how packed the shops are. Bhavani Appliances is tucked right in there among all the other businesses. We’ve got stacks of boxes everywhere and usually, there’s a pressure cooker or a mixer on the counter that we’re looking at. People come in looking for parts or maybe a new stove for their kitchen. It gets dusty because of all the traffic outside, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the glass displays. We aren't a big showroom with air conditioning and fancy lights. It’s just a practical shop where you get what you need for your home. Sometimes customers come in with very old machines hoping we can find a spare part that isn't made anymore. We try our best to dig through the back shelves to see what’s there. The noise from the street is constant, but inside we just focus on the work. My nephew helps out on the weekends when it gets really busy. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know the inventory well. It's been this way for a long time. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this block. We share tea and talk about how the market is changing. It's a bit of a squeeze inside the shop, but we make it work and keep things going day after day.
