Balaji Safety Glass is out in Anekal Taluk, at No.12 near Chandapura. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here to Byagadadenahalli, as it’s quite far from the main city center of Bangalore. The facility is large because we have to store all the heavy glass sheets and the machinery for toughening them. It’s an industrial area, so there is always the sound of trucks and heavy vehicles moving around on the road outside. Inside the plant, it’s quite noisy with the glass being moved and the machines running. We spend a lot of time checking the glass for any cracks or issues. The floor is concrete and there’s always a fine layer of dust, no matter how much we sweep. It’s hard work and the days are long. We usually start early in the morning when it’s still cool. By the afternoon, the sun really beats down on the metal roof. There’s a small area where we sit for lunch and have a bit of a rest. Most of our workers live nearby in the villages or commute from Anekal. We don't have a fancy reception or anything, just a small office where the paperwork gets handled. It’s a practical place built for heavy work. People who need safety glass for their buildings or projects find their way out here. We just focus on getting the glass loaded onto the trucks and sent out.
