Babji Rubber

Babji Rubber is tucked away at Door No. 16 on D S Lane. This is right off SP Road Cross in the Nagarathpete area. It’s one of those old parts of the city where the lanes are so thin you can barely walk past someone else. The smell of rubber is the first thing you notice when you get close to our spot. We have stacks of rubber parts and sheets piled up almost to the ceiling. It’s a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together, but we have some good tube lights. We spend a lot of time measuring things and cutting them to size. People come in looking for specific gaskets or valves, and we have to dig through the bins to find the right one. It’s a bit of a maze in here. We know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. The noise from SP Road is always there in the background, mostly horns and bikes. We drink a lot of tea from the guy who walks around with a thermos. We’ve been here for a good while, and the walls show it. There are marks and stains from years of moving heavy rubber items around. It’s a gritty job, and our hands are usually a bit dirty by the end of the day. We just pack up the orders and wait for the couriers to arrive.
