Our shop is at No.168/1 on the first floor of a building in Ms Lane, right off Silver Jubilee Park Road. If you’ve ever been to SJP Road, you know how crowded it gets with all the hardware and tool shops. It’s a struggle just to get a bike through the lane sometimes. We are on the first floor, so we have to haul everything up and down the stairs. We deal in fasteners—nuts, bolts, screws, and all those small bits that hold things together. The walls are lined with wooden racks holding hundreds of little cardboard boxes. It’s a bit dark inside, but we know exactly where every size is kept. We spend most of the day counting out pieces for people who walk in or packing up larger bags for the regular shops. It’s a lot of dusty work and your hands are always a bit oily from the metal. We have a small calculator on the counter that’s seen better days, and a big heavy ledger where we write down the sales. We don't do any big advertising. Most people find us because someone else told them we had the specific bolt they were looking for. It’s a simple way to make a living, and it keeps us right in the middle of the city's busiest market. There’s always someone shouting outside or a horn honking, but we just keep counting the screws and bolts.
